The public are being invited to have their say on the latest stage of plans for a brand new leisure centre in the heart of Morpeth.
The state-of-the-art complex proposed for the prestigious riverside site also includes plans for a hotel and performing arts venue.
The event is a follow-up to a pre-Christmas drop in session which gained people’s views on what facilities they may like at the centre and encouraged them to complete a survey on leisure provision in the town.
The latest event will again take place in the cafe area at the current leisure centre in New Market on Thursday, March 16, from 3pm-7.30pm. It will give people a chance to see the first proposals for facilities on the site and also where they might be situated.
The public will be able to speak to officers and give their views on the plans.
Council leader Grant Davey said: “This exciting development will give the people of Morpeth a bespoke facility on their doorstep and I hope as many people as possible will be able to attend this latest consultation and have their say.
“A lot of work has been going on behind the scenes since our last drop in session to develop plans which we hope will meet with local approval but we want people to be involved and let us know what they think.”
Plans are also underway for two more multi-million pound leisure centres in Northumberland, in Blyth and Berwick, as part of the council's Market Towns Initiative.
Once the requirements have been determined, further work will take place on the business case for the site.
