What is SEND ?

Special Educational Needs and Disability. ‘Special Educational Needs’ describes people who need significant extra help to learn. ‘Disability’ describes people who need long-term substantial help to carry out day-to-day activities.

What is the SEND Local Offer?

Local authorities must publish a Local Offer. It is available through this website and printed information. It sets out in one place information about provision expected to be available for children and young people from Northumberland aged 0-25 years. The Local Offer has to be clear, comprehensive and accessible. It must tell you about available provision and how to access it.

The Local Offer must develop and improve all the time, with input and comments from children, young people and families helping us make those improvements.
