through the application process. Everything you need to know
about applying for a school place can be found on this
website. If you have any questions or need help with your

Consultation has now begun on School Admissions Arrangements for
2011. Parents and Carers who wish to take part in the consultation
on the proposed arrangements can do so by selecting the

Online Applications:
In 2008 20% of applicants applied online
and in 2009 online applications rose to 58%, using this method you
can check or change your application at any time up until the
deadline and you will be advised of the result on ‘National Offers
Day’.
Parents wanting to apply online will need
access to an e-mail account and be resident in
Northumberland. Please follow this

First and Primary Schools
The Online Admissions portal opens from 2 November
2010 and closes on 14 January
2011.
Application forms should be returned by the closing date
which is the 14 January 2011.
Middle, High and Secondary Schools
The Online Admissions portal opens from 6
September 2010 and closes on 31 October
2010.
Application forms should be returned by the closing date
which is the 31 October 2010.
Admissions Handbook:
Parents of children transferring/moving school
in September 2011 will receive a copy of the Admissions Handbook
2011-12 which is designed to assist you when applying for a school
place for your child(ren).
A copy of the Admissions
Handbooks Primary and First 2011-12 will be available in
November 2010.

INORMAPS:
Northumberland County Council has an online system
to identify catchment schools by using
the INORMAPS
system you can enter your postcode and select the
appropriate First (Primary), Middle or High (Secondary) School
check boxes.
Confidential/Independent Admissions Advice:
Companies that offer admissions advice are not
endorsed by Northumberland County Council. Parents can
however receive assistance from the Schools Choice Adviser who will
help families make the best choice of school for their child.
Choice Advisers are independent of the Local Authority and where
appropriate can advise parents about schools in other Local
Authority areas in confidence. Choice Advisers help families make
sense of school league tables, Ofsted reports and admission
criteria and have information about uniforms, charging policies
etc.
