Blyth Celebrates with Pride
31 Jul 2025
Northumberland County Council Library Service has partnered with “Blyth Celebrates” – a year-long festival of creativity, community pride and heritage packed with inclusive, family-friendly events and exhibitions to bring together people of all ages, beliefs and background.
At the core of the collaboration is ‘Mini Pride’, a festival aim at children up to seven with colourful arts and crafts and story time events that celebrate individuality, diversity and creativity.
Cllr Wendy Pattison, Northumberland County Council Cabinet Member and Portfolio Holder for Culture, Leisure and Tourism, said: “Mini Pride encourages creative play and community spirit under the Northumberland Libraries banner - demonstrating how libraries can help foster a great community culture.
“It is a free event which also offers our residents the chance to learn about the library’s wider offer - from story time and arts activities to heritage learning, digital resources and special collections.
“This event sets the tone for wider Blyth Celebrates programme shining a spotlight on its broader values as a festival rooted in community expression and shared pride in the town and its heritage.”
Blyth Celebrates runs from August 2025 to March 2026, with more than 60 free events including vintage fairs, fire gardens, story trails, film festivals and energy-themed experiences.
*There are two Mini Pride sessions at Blyth Library in Bridge Street, on Wednesday, August 6 from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm – 3.30 pm. Places are limited so advance booking is recommended, via Eventbrite. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/blyth-library-mini-pride-tickets-1443150605309)
