Hundreds of residents are having their say on initial plans for a new Berwick Leisure Centre - with a preference for the new building to be built on the current site.
Over 120 people attended over the two days of consultation and organisers came away with a “ringing endorsement” to build on the existing site. A further 190 responses have already been received online and can still be submitted until March 31.
Northumberland County Council and Active Northumberland representatives, supported by Arch and leisure architects FaulknerBrowns, hosted the initial public consultations on the strategy at Berwick Workspace and the Swan Centre .
Council leader Grant Davey said: “The feedback from the public showed they fully endorsed the Council’s strategy for a new leisure centre built on the existing site.
“It’s great that the people of Berwick are having their say on what they want to have considered included in the centre.
“We’d also encourage anyone who hasn’t yet seen the initial plans to have a look online and complete the feedback forms. All feedback is important so that the ideas can be examined and initial designs brought back as quickly as possible.”
The boards are remaining on display at the Swan Centre for people to continue to view over the next two weeks.
