Introduction

Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) is a process designed to assemble a shared picture of the health, care and related needs of the people of Northumberland.  Responsibility for JSNA is shared between the Director of Public Health, the Executive Director of Adult Care and the Executive Director of Children's Services.

We published a comprehensive baseline analysis of the information available to us about needs in Northumberland in 2009.  Our baseline JSNA is available for download.  The latest (February 2012) Executive Summary summarises the ongoing JSNA work in Northumberland, highlights key messages and sets out some of the implications for future commissioning and planning.

We are trying out a more accessible format for the JSNA which will make information easier to find and to update.  The topic areas set out below have links to headline analysis and background documentation which will change as it is developed.  Your views on format and content will help us to make this information more useful and should be sent to Pamela.Forster@northumberland.gcsx.gov.uk.

In Northumberland under the unitary authority two new sets of geographies have been created here.

Area profiles paint a rich picture of the quality of life and service provision in a local area. An Area Profile helps focus on people and place, and identify priorities that cut across service boundaries.

You can access short summary leaflets showing key statistics and issues for the 27 Locality Areas here. Not all are complete at this time, but further locality profiles will be added as they are produced.

Interactive Health and social well being profiles are available here

Children and Families

There are a new set of outcomes and priorities though the groups of children and young people whose needs they reflect remain constant. This update of the detailed JSNA presents the current needs analysis for key groups to inform the work of the Children’s Commissioning sub group that supports the Health and Well Being Board. See updated detailed DRAFT JSNA 2012 here.
