Children at Northumberland schools were invited to showcase their talent by entering our Schools Choir Competition 2024.
Schools submitted a video of their choir in action and from these entries our expert judge selected five outstanding finalists to compete in the grand finale at St James Church in Morpeth.
After fantastic festive performances from Chantry and Newminster Middle Schools, Collingwood School, Prudhoe West Academy, Darras Hall Primary, and Broomhaugh First School - Chantry and Newminster Middle Schools were crowned winners.
The choir will now represent Northumberland at the prestigious Durham Choir Festival 2025, where the pupils will perform at Durham Cathedral.
The competition was organised by Music Partnership North, which is committed to enriching the lives of children and young people in Northumberland and Newcastle through engagement and participation in quality music activities.
The County Choir is open to all pupils aged 7 to 18 years and meets around eight times per term, with a number of performance opportunities throughout the year too.
It is one of a number of free musical ensembles that are available for young people in Northumberland to get involved with and develop their musical talents.
Cllr Guy Renner-Thompson, Cabinet member for Inspiring Young People, said: “It is wonderful to see the incredible talent and festive cheer from our Northumberland Schools Christmas Choir Competition 2024 and to see the children having so much fun through music.”
