Landlords and agents invited to free September update event

A free event which aims to provide landlords and agents with industry updates is taking place this month and event organiser Northumberland County Council is requesting that anyone wishing to attend signs up now.

The annual Landlord Forums are a great opportunity  to get up to date, impartial and professional advice in one place, on one day.

The event is aimed at landlords and agents from around the county and beyond and  provides invaluable updates on new housing legislation and industry issues.

It will be held at Blyth Town Football Club, on 18 September between 10am – 4.30 pm.

Anyone wishing to attend is encouraged to book their place via https://nland.cc/landlordevent or  email privatesectorhousing@northumberland.gov.uk for further information.

There will be a series of talks throughout the day full of advice, knowledge and relevant legislation.
Approved Mortgage Solutions will be there to give landlords some general educational advice around finance and mortgages.

There will be a talk from Landlord Action who help landlords with eviction, debt recovery, housing conditions and more.

There will be an update on The Renters (Reform) Bill, currently making its way through Parliament. This aims to reshape the private rented sector, providing greater security and fairness for tenants while also ensuring landlords can manage their properties effectively.

A representative from Rent Guarantor will also be speaking and up to date legal advice will be given by local law firm Sweeny Miller.
Issues such as safeguarding, condensation and damp will also be covered.

Northumberland County Councillor Colin Horncastle, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Housing said:
“The private rented sector is continuing to grow across the county. We want to help landlords to be the best they can be for  local residents and ensure they are fully aware of any changing legislation they will need to meet, so they are operating within the law.

“If you rent out a property, either as a landlord or an agent then please book your free place and come along.”
There will be refreshments and lunch laid on and an opportunity to network and visit trade stands.
