The Council aims to maximise the benefits of
securing employment and training opportunities for residents of
Northumberland, sometimes referred to as Targeted Recruitment and
Training (TRT), through the routes of planning obligations, land
sale conditions and procurement clauses. The inclusion of ‘social
clauses’ in such activities are a means of creating economic,
social and environmental benefits creating a more competitive
industry, a workforce equipped with skills relevant to local
requirements and other wider community and social benefits
resulting from these activities. The Council is committed to using
its well-being powers to create opportunities for local residents
and long-term workless people to move into sustainable jobs.
