Labour Market Intelligence

The employability and Inclusion Team gathers, monitors, and disseminates a range of labour market intelligence and analyses, including employment trends, vacancies, demographics, and skills supply and demand data. This is to help providers and employers to understand the labour market and issues across local economies and enable them to provide what the labour market needs to grow and become more inclusive.

What is it?

The employability and Inclusion Team gathers, monitors, and disseminates a range of labour market intelligence and analyses, including employment trends, vacancies, demographics, and skills supply and demand data. This is to help providers and employers to understand the labour market and issues across local economies and enable them to provide what the labour market needs to grow and become more inclusive.

How does it work?

Using a range of data sources, the team produces labour market bulletins to inform stakeholders across sectors. The team uses publicly available labour market data and the Lightcast vacancies intelligence and insights tool to identify local trends and projections in the jobs market.

This will help the Northumberland County Council's Economic Development and Growth, as well as local businesses and residents, make informed decisions that are in line with the current and future needs of the labour market. Ultimately, this will promote economic growth and increase prosperity.

Who else is involved?

Data is taken from a wide range of sources, including the Office for National Statistics, Nomis, DWP StatXplore, LGI inform and Lightcast. The team works with the North of Tyne Combined Authority, other Local Authorities, the Local Enterprise Partnership, the Local Government Association and others to build as full a picture as possible of the Northumberland Labour Market.
