Online consultation still open for Hexham Middle School site

Local residents are being reminded that there is still time to give their views on exciting proposals for the former Hexham Middle School Site.

The county council is keen to hear from as many people as possible and hope everyone involved in the town – those who live, work or do business in it – will take the time to look at the proposals and share their views.

The online consultation is open until 24th March and people can view the plans and have their say by logging on to  https://nland.cc/yourhexham

The draft masterplan retains the essence of the site and incorporates something for all ages of the community.
Initial proposals incorporate a mixture of good quality housing, including affordable housing, bungalows, family homes and an extra care supported living scheme.

Thinking behind the design has focussed on creating a high quality, healthy and sustainable environment.  The 16-acre scheme will be linked to the town centre and incorporate areas of green space with footpaths and landscaped areas, improved access and a community garden.

Glen Sanderson, Leader of Northumberland County Council said:
“Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to give their views so far - we really appreciate all your comments.

“The plans are currently at a design concept stage. We know this site is important to the people of Hexham and it is very important to us too.  We want to bring this site back into use as quickly as we can and provide something really special for the people of Hexham.

It is so important that local people get to have a say. We value, and are listening very carefully to all views, and we will be communicating with local people as plans are developed.

“It is a large and important site, and we want to get it right for the people of Hexham. “
Earlier in the month drop-in sessions were held at The Queens Hall in Hexham where local people could view the proposals for this important 16-acre site and put forward their thoughts.

If you haven’t had the chance to share your views the online consultation is open until 24th March.  You can look at the plans and have your say online at https://nland.cc/yourhexham
