Thank a teacher day

Northumberland celebrates Thank a Teacher Day

Cllr Glen Sanderson, Leader of the Council, pays tribute to our teachers and support staff

Today (Wednesday 21 June) is National Thank a Teacher Day and Northumberland County Council is paying tribute to all teachers and support staff across the county.

This national day marks a moment when everyone in the country is coming together to say thank you to teachers and everyone working in our early years settings, schools and colleges, who are making a difference every day of the year.

Councillor Glen Sanderson, leader at the council, said: “It's Thank a Teacher Day today and a brilliant chance to celebrate everyone working in our early years settings, schools and colleges who do such a wonderful job at the heart of our communities.

“This year is all about gratitude, recognising the long-lasting impact that education has on individuals and throughout society.

“As well as thanking our teachers who work so hard to inspire and encourage our young people to be the very best that they can be – we also want to thank everyone who works in early years settings, schools and colleges for the difference that they make every day.

“I’d also like to say a thank you to all the staff in education teams within the council which provide support to schools across our county.

"It is a huge team effort with everyone playing an important role in encouraging learning, encouraging being a good citizen and having confidence in oneself.

"So please join me today in letting them know how amazing they all are and how much we appreciate all that they do. Thank you."
