Did you know that as well as donating funds or items, you can also support charities across the county by playing the Northumberland Lottery?

With over 120 local charities, community groups or not for profit organisations signed up to the initiative it is a great way of raising money for your chosen group.

Since it launched in April 2020, the lottery has already raised £150,000 for communities across the county and given away £33,475 in prizes.

The lottery has just had another £2k winner, just in time for Christmas, who bought a ticket in support of Tynedale Rotary.

Tickets for the lottery cost just £1 a week and 60% of each ticket sold goes direct into charities across the county. Players can nominate a charity of their choice with 50p of every £1 ticket going to their specified charity and the remaining 10p is distributed to other local groups.

It’s free and easy for local not-for profit organisations to sign up to the lottery and start raising funds and just 20 ticket sales a week can raise £500 annually.

Councillor Richard Wearmouth, cabinet member for corporate services at Northumberland County Council, said: “It’s been great to see local charities and community groups benefit from the Northumberland Lottery over the last three years, with residents supporting and championing from within the county.

“Playing the Northumberland Lottery is another great way residents can support causes close to home.”
