Northumberland’s Better Health at Work Awards Winners Announced

Six businesses in the county have received special awards for their commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of their employees.

The Better Health at Work Award (BHAWA) recognises the efforts of employers in the North East and Cumbria in addressing health issues within the workplace.

A diverse range of businesses are engaged with the regional award scheme, from the commercial, public and voluntary sectors.

Cllr Wendy Pattison, Northumberland County Council’s cabinet member for Adult Wellbeing, said: "These awards recognise the hard work carried out to deliver innovative and engaging campaigns to improve the health and wellbeing of their colleagues and the workforce.

“I would like to congratulate all the organisations who have been presented with awards this year. Their commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of employees and local people was outstanding.”

The successful businesses and organisations include:
  • Sarah Ballance, Citizens Advice Northumberland - Health Advocate of the Year
  • CNTW - Ambassador Status
  • Miller UK Ltd - Gold Award
  • SEND to Learn Nursery - Gold Award & Special Recognition Award
  • The Nursery at White House Farm - Gold Award

The BHAWA allows individuals benefit from increased access to health information and interventions where they wouldn't normally. At the same time, employers benefit from improved morale, dramatically lower levels of absenteeism and increased productivity.
