Northumberland Census data
The first results from Census 2021 were published on Tuesday 28th June 2022. Carried out in the Spring of 2021, data from the Census gives communities across Northumberland a glimpse of how the local population has changed in the past decade and provides a rich dataset to inform decisions about public services.
Released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the results provide estimates of England’s and Wales’ population and households, as well as age and sex profiles for local authorities. ONS have also published two statistical bulletins and a report on quality and methods. Data for Northumberland alongside data for local authorities in England and Wales can be accessed through the Council’s website or via the ONS first results release page.
Further results from the Census will be published from October onwards. These will include data on ethnicity, religion, the labour market, education and housing. For the first time, it will also include information on armed forces veterans, sexual orientation and gender identity. Details of later releases can be viewed on the proposed outputs and release plans pages.
