Support scheme extends to mobile and home-based businesses

More businesses will now be able to benefit from Northumberland’s Covid-19 Business Resilience Grant – as it has been extended to include further business types.
Some mobile and home-based businesses will now be able to apply for the grant.
The scheme is being widened to support businesses that operate within the hospitality, accommodation and leisure industries or their supply chain, or that deliver in-person face to face services.
Approved driving instructors will also be able to apply.
Councillor Nick Oliver, cabinet member for corporate resources at Northumberland County Council said: “The extension of our Business Resilience Grant is great news for some of those mobile or home based businesses which have not previously been eligible for grants, but which have seen an impact on their businesses as a result of the pandemic.
“We have continued to review what grants have been available to businesses, and worked hard to provide support to as many businesses in Northumberland as we possibly can, and we hope that this grant will go some way to helping those that have not yet been able to access support.
“We have now made around 35,000 payments totalling over £146million to businesses in the county since the pandemic started, and further grants are being paid out every day.
Home-based and mobile businesses must be able to demonstrate that they have been severely impacted by Covid-19 restrictions, that they continue to have on-going fixed costs associated with running their business, and that they have not been able to adapt to trade successfully online.
The business must not have been eligible for any other Local Restrictions Support Grant or Additional Restrictions Grant and must also provide the majority of the applicant's income.
The main Business Resilience Grant continues to be open for applications, targeted at those which have premises with a rateable value and who can demonstrate at least £200 a month fixed commercial property costs.
Funding for the Business Resilience Grant is limited, so businesses are encouraged to apply as soon as they can. The final deadline will be Monday 12 April 2021.
