Council seeks PPE supplies from Northumberland businesses

Northumberland County Council is asking local businesses to support their efforts to secure additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to help protect frontline workers.

Over recent weeks, the Council has been receiving stocks of PPE from the Government as well as other supply chains. However, they are now planning for the next few weeks ahead, and are seeking support from local businesses who may be able to assist with and bolster supplies.

A spokesperson for the Council said: “Whilst we are receiving PPE at intervals through our supply chain and via central Government arrangements, we are planning ahead and would be keen to hear from any Northumberland based businesses who could supply to us immediately or in the future.

“Working alongside independent care providers, we need a range of equipment to comply with the recently issued PPE guidance for Coronavirus, and it’s important that we can ensure that we have sufficient supply at all times.

“Ideally we would like local businesses to be our first port of call, which may also support  businesses to be introduced to some of our wider supply chain arrangements in the future”.

The Council is seeking supplies of surgical masks, eye protection and goggles, disposable gloves, disposable aprons, hand sanitiser & alcohol based wipes.
