Northumberland recognised in national awards

Northumberland’s 24/7 phone line for anyone who is worried about the welfare of a child or adult has been highly commended in the prestigious Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Awards.

Northumberland Onecall operates under a partnership agreement between Northumberland County Council and Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundations Trust and brings together 20 services from different agencies to provide a single point of access to a range of specialist support to keep people safe and well.

At an award ceremony this month Onecall was highly commended in the Public/Public Partnerships category.

The LGC Awards judges described Onecall as a hugely ambitious partnership which creates simple solutions to complex systems and praised its ‘impressive scale and depth of buy-in’.

The LGC Awards celebrate the teams and individuals making the biggest difference to their communities.

Northumberland County Councillor Veronica Jones, cabinet member for Adult Wellbeing and Health, said: “Onecall is an example of how we can work together to provide the best quality services for the residents of Northumberland. It is important that this has been recognised at a national level.”

Northumberland County Council was also shortlisted in the Digital Impact category for ‘The Wizard’ a secure, cloud based application which supports the management of prompt, accurate early years funding distribution and budget management.

And the Home Safe integrated discharge service, which brings together council social care staff and healthcare professionals from Northumbria Healthcare working with staff and volunteers from the British Red Cross (BRC) to support people who need a little extra help to return home from hospital, was shortlisted in the Health and Social Care category.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust delivers hospital and community health services in Northumberland and North Tyneside and adult social care services in Northumberland in partnership with Northumberland County Council.
