Police and Crime Commissioner candidates state their case


The candidates standing for election to be the next Police and Crime Commissioner for the Northumbria Police area have each made an election statement outlining their vision and priorities for the role.
 
You can read or download information on all the candidates  from the Choose My PCC website (www.choosemypcc.org.uk) which may help you to  decide how you will cast your vote on July 18.
 
The candidates standing for election are:
 
Georgina Hill Independent, from Berwick upon Tweed
Cara McGuinness Labour from Newcastle North
Robbie Moore Conservative and Unionist party from Alnwick
Jonathan Wallace Liberal Democrat, from Gateshead
 
Police and crime commissioners (PCCs) are elected representatives who oversee how crime is tackled in a police force area. Their aim is to cut crime and to ensure the police force is effective.

Dame Vera Baird's successor as Northumbria PCC will be chosen in an election on Thursday, July 18, after she resigned from her post to take on a national role as Victims Commissioner.  

The result will be announced in Sunderland on Friday 19 July.
