The Continental Street Market is heading to Morpeth this week

The popular Continental Street Market event is on its way to Morpeth this week for its first visit.

From Thursday 8  to Sunday 11 August, The Market  Square in Morpeth town centre will be transformed when a range of international themed traders, selling food, drink and craft products, will make it their home for a few days.

Foodies will be treated to an array of aromas from freshly prepared, mouth-watering continental food with tasty treats  such as Greek Gyros and Thai noodles, olives, Baklava and flavoured cheeses. There will also be a range of quirky and unusual craft items that you won’t find on the high street.

The market will be open for business from 10 am - 6pm each day except on Sunday when the market  will be open 10am - 4pm.

The Continental Street Market is currently  travelling the length and breadth of the UK as part of its 2019 tour with over 50 events running throughout the year.

Northumberland County Councillor Glen Sanderson, cabinet member for local services said:

“Morpeth has some wonderful local businesses and market traders. Events like this attract more people to the area and increase footfall in the town. I would encourage anyone who has the time to pop along to the market, and see what there is on offer – I’m sure they won’t be disappointed.  With so much choice, there’s bound to be something for everyone to enjoy at this family friendly event!”

RR Events Managing Director Tony Walsh said: “Our team of staff and traders have been involved in markets across Europe for over 10 years. We are particularly proud of our Continental Street Market brand as we know the atmosphere that it brings to the towns and cities we visit. We would like to thank Northumberland County Council for working with us to help bring this brand new event, and hope the people of Morpeth will enjoy it and are as excited as we are.”
