Next Morpeth Forum community event announced

Updates on Morpeth’s new leisure centre along with car parking, schools and the forthcoming Tour of Britain will all be on show in Morpeth Forum’s next event.

The latest drop-in update and feedback session at the Town Hall will take place on Thursday, September 5 between 1pm and 7pm.

It will include the new Morpeth Leisure Centre Planning Consultation and people will be encouraged to submit any views on the proposals before a formal planning application is submitted.

A second standalone consultation event for the new leisure centre will also be held at Morpeth Town Hall on Saturday, September 14 from 10am to 2pm.

And along with information boards from the county and town councils, the September 5 event will also be updates from local developers, Active Northumberland and all the latest information on the Tour of Britain which blazes through the town just four days later.

Councillor Richard Wearmouth, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: “After the last community event we pledged to consider all the feedback shared with us and come back to residents as these schemes move forward.

“No doubt residents have seen progress on a number of schemes over the past few months and this is an opportunity to find out exactly where we’re at as well as get updates on a number of exciting developments.”

Morpeth Mayor Alison Byard commented: "Previous public consultation events in Morpeth have been a great success and I would like to encourage as many residents as possible to come along and get the latest information on both public and private sector developments in the town, as well as to take this opportunity to raise any queries or concerns they may have.”
