The census is a once-in-a-decade survey that gives us the most accurate estimate of all the people and households in England and Wales.
Carried out in the Spring of 2021, data from the Census gives communities across Northumberland a glimpse of how the local population has changed in the past decade and provides a rich dataset to inform decisions about public services.
Released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the results provide estimates of England’s and Wales’ population and households, as well as age and sex profiles for local authorities. ONS have also published two statistical bulletins and a report on quality and methods. Data for Northumberland alongside data for local authorities in England and Wales can be accessed through the Council’s website or via the ONS first results release page.
