GENERAL ALERT: Craster public toilets closed (5pm 01/08)

The public toilets in Craster have had to be closed due to them being blocked.
Portaloos have been ordered and should be installed for part of this weekend (Aug 2/3). In the meantime, the nearest alternative public toilets are either Boulmer, NE66 3BU or Low Newton, NE66 3EL (behind Ship Inn).
We apologise for the inconvenience.

BIN COLLECTION ALERT: Missed Bins 31st July 2025

Due to access difficulties because of roadworks we were unable to complete all of the scheduled collections on 31st July 2025 in the Hanging Shaw area, Slaggyford. We apologise to the residents affected though at this time we are unable to provide a date for re-collection

ROAD ALERT: Overnight resurfacing works: #A69 from 4 August until 29 August (7pm - 7am) on weeknights only.

Overnight resurfacing works: #A69 #Northumberland #Newcastle

National Highways are resurfacing the A69 between Corbridge and Newcastle, creating safer journeys in this area.

Work will take place over four weeks from 4 August until 29 August (7pm - 7am) on weeknights only.

This work will be carried out in phases in the following areas:

• Bays Leap eastbound near Heddon
• Horsley to Heddon eastbound
• Nafferton to Ovington westbound
• Styford Roundabout to Shaw House near Corbridge
• Stagshaw Interchange westbound entry slip near Corbridge

To keep drivers and the workforce safe, we'll need overnight lane closures, with a convoy system in place ??????

When surfacing is carried out at Horsley to Heddon and Stagshaw slip road, adjoining slip roads will be closed with a diversion route clearly indicated.

There will also be speed restrictions within the lane closures.

If you’re planning to travel in the area during these closures, please allow more time for your journey.
