Public Health - Healthier Together

From April 2013, Northumberland County Council took lead responsibility for public health for the first time since 1974. This is a great opportunity for the council as local authorities are responsible for many factors that contribute to health and wellbeing. These include education, housing, planning and environment which align well with the new public health functions and responsibilities which are:

  • Improving health
  • Protecting health
  • Health of our Population
