Northumberland Young Firefighters Association
Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service works with young
people in a variety of different ways. One of which is through the
Young Firefighters Association (YFA).
The YFA is open to 13-17 year olds living in Northumberland
County. The young people are provided an opportunity to work
towards a BTEC Award or Certificate qualification in Fire and
Rescue Services in the Community.
There are currently six YFA Branches
throughout Northumberland.

They are located in the folllowing areas:-
- Belford
- Berwick
- Blyth
- Ashington
- Alnwick
- Hexham
Each branch meets at their designated fire station one evening
per week between 6-8pm. Members of the YFA are involved in various
activities - learning firefighting skills, developing leadership
skills and improving team working skills...all of which are taught
in an extra curricular environment.
The Young Firefighters also participate regularly in various
projects such as beach cleaning, fund raising, and attending fetes
and fairs to provide safety information to the public.
As well as all of the above, the Young Firefighters do get
plenty of opportunity to attend social events too, such as ice
skating, bowling, team building activities and much more.
Do you think you have what it takes to be a Young
Firefighter?
