Wooler Tourist Information Centre

Situated in the foothill of the Cheviots, Wooler is the Northern gateway to Glendale and Northumberland National Parks. It lies on the St Cuthbert’s Way long distance trail between Melrose Abbey and Lindisfarne.

  • By foot - Wooler has some beautiful local walks including Humbleton Hill Walk, Harthope Valley and Yeavering Bell, ask staff for information about these.
  • By public transport – up to date information on bus routes and timetables.
  • By car – maps and itineraries are available to purchase.

 

Local gems

Wooler is a perfect base to explore Northumberland National Park. Nearby Flodden Field remains one of the best preserved battle sites in Europe and is well worth a visit.

Chillingham Castle is the perfect place to join a ghost hunt. Elsewhere the nearby Chllingham Wild Cattle provides an excellent family day out as you get to see these beautiful animals in their natural habitat.

Ford and Etal really is the rural idyll with many picture perfect views and attractions, ask staff for more details about these.

Fancy a spot of fishing? Ask staff about the may fishing opportunities along the Till including places where you get to eat your own catch on site!
