What's Happening in Northumberland Libraries

There is always lots going on in Northumberland Libraries. We hold a variety of events throughout the year, including children and adult craft activities, family history events, author talks and much more.

Northumberlandia Storytelling Competition - Winners Announced!

Winner of the Adult category - Jackie Hinton

A new modern legend has been subtly created in this story.

1st overall and winner of the 12-18 age category - Milly Davis aged 12

The judges were very excited by this story that felt rooted in the history of Northumberland, bringing it to life in a very visual way.

2nd Overall and winner of the 8-11 age category - Aidan Jones aged 9

The language and imagery of the story was enjoyed by the judges . Beautifully paced with a superb narrative voice, ideal to be read aloud.

Winner of the 7 and under category - Joint winners Chanelle Pollard aged 7 and Betty Fentiman aged 7

The judges couldn’t choose between these two entries- one was full of the imagery of dragons which was very exciting . The other was a more personal and energetic; a lively tale.

Highly commended - Lucy Miller-Trotter aged 13 and Zoe Jones aged 12.

The winning entry will be published as an illustrated e-book with a printed copy presented to Milly. The runner- up and category winner’s stories will be produced in PDF format. All the stories will be available to read on-line.

The entries were judged by Anne Curtis of Shoofly Publishers and author and playwright Ann Coburn.

Thank you to all the people who submitted entries.
