Views sought on Hepscott electoral arrangements

The electoral arrangements of Hepscott  are currently being reviewed to ensure that effective local governance arrangements are maintained or improved upon.

A review is being carried out following the changes made by the Northumberland Council (Reorganisation of Community Governance) (Morpeth and Hepscott) Order 2021.

Currently, Hepscott parish has a representation of 7 councillors split between two wards with 5 councillors representing Hepscott ward and 2 representing Hepscott Stobhill Manor ward.

Northumberland County Council has a duty to keep parish arrangements under review and it is felt timely to review the electoral arrangements for Hepscott Parish to ensure that they continue to maintain or improve the promotion of community cohesion within the Parish.

Northumberland County Council is now consulting with local electors and other stakeholders in the area for their views on how representation should look within Hepscott Parish in the future.  Considerations could include the number of members of the Parish Council or whether the sub-division into wards should be retained.

If you would like to make your views known, they should be submitted, in writing, by 7 October to:-
Lesley Bennett, Senior Democratic Services Officer,
Democratic Services, Northumberland County Council, County Hall, Morpeth,
Northumberland, NE61 2EF

A report will be sent to the Council in January 2023 informing it of the outcome and, if approved a relevant order will come into effect in Spring 2023.
