Get the guidance you need for your future!

Schools are wrapping up for the summer break, and many students will be eagerly awaiting their exam results and considering their options for the future.

Results will be out in August, and whilst for a second year it may not have been the experience many had hoped for, with results being centre graded, it is a time when they will need to be thinking about what they want to do next.

Northumberland’s Careers Guidance Team are ready and waiting to help guide you on the right path. Whether you are considering further education, apprenticeships, traineeships or joining the armed forces there are multiple options out there for you.

Councillor Guy Renner-Thompson, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services said: “There are so many options out there for our young people, and whilst many will be thinking about staying on at school, there will be many that want to know what all their options are.

“Sometimes getting a second opinion, or just having someone to chat through ideas is what is needed to help you make the right decision for your future.”

The service can also offer advice and guidance to those aged 16 - 18 who are currently unemployed.

Cath McEvoy-Carr, Executive Director for Adult and Children’s services said: “I strongly encourage anyone considering what their options are beyond their exams to get in touch with the team. You don’t need to wait until you get you results; you can start discussing you options now with our dedicated team.”

The team are fully qualified and experienced careers advisers. They can help young people to:
●       find the opportunities they are looking for
●       tell them about courses and apprenticeships in their area
●       plan a route to the career they want
●       and help them improve their job search skills

If you are a Year 11 school leaver or 16-18 and not in education, employment or training, please get in touch with them on 07827 244027 or email careersteam@northumberland.gov.uk to find out more.
