Get your child’s voice heard and make a difference

Parents and carers are being asked to encourage their children to take part in a ‘once-in-a-generation’ review to identify barriers that could prevent them from reaching their full potential.  

Northumberland County Council is supporting the Children’s Commissioner for England’s review of children’s lives which will help propose policy solutions to address any barriers identified.  

Cath McEvoy-Carr, Executive Director for Adult and Children’s services, said: “This is an opportunity for Northumberland’s children and young people to have their say; for them to speak up about what they think is important for their future and what currently is holding them back.  
“It’s an exciting opportunity to help us think big and it’s a chance for every child in Northumberland to have their voice heard and I urge anyone with children to encourage them to take part.”  

‘The Big Ask’ is the largest ever consultation held with children and will help Dame Rachel de Souza, The Children’s Commissioner for England to inform government what our children and young people think and what they need to live happy and healthy lives.  .   
  
This review will help shape future policy that will impact on our children and young people’s lives.  
There are different surveys for different age groups (4-5, 6-8, 9-12 and 13-17). 

Those aged 18+ and are a care leaver, parent, or work with children can also complete an adult survey to share their views.
