Reading for Wellbeing is expanding!

We’re preparing to meet face-to-face again!!!

We are offering one-to-one telephone and online sessions across the county too!!

And we are moving further afield into Lynemouth, Ellington, Linton and Cresswell.

Reading for Wellbeing Newbiggin has been sponsored by the well-known author Ann Cleeves – who wrote the popular Vera series – filmed in our region! Ann passionately believes that reading stories has the potential to transform our health and wellbeing; because when we actually talk about what we’re reading and what it means to us we're sharing a bit of ourselves each time and when that happens, we’re providing an outlet for our emotions!

Following the success of the project in Newbiggin, we are offering the service on the telephone and online and we will soon be expanding sessions into Lynemouth and beyond.

Reading has the power to help you forget about your worries, your niggles – your aches and pains and whatever else is bothering you – because when you’re reading that juicy novel, that racy romance or that dark, twisty, has-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat thriller, you can forget about ‘normal’ everyday life for that bit of time – and what wonderful escapism is that??Why not come along to one of our ‘drop-in’ sessions held weekly, where people who enjoy reading meet! Even if you're not particularly a keen reader, it’s a chance to get out and have a natter!!

Current Sessions

  • Mondays - 10.30 - 11.30am (except Bank Holidays): Stories & Friendship @ Newbiggin Arts Centre, Front Street.
  • Mondays - 1 - 2pm (except Bank Holidays): Stories & Friendship @ Newbiggin Learning Hive, 44 East Lea.
  • Tuesdays 1.30 - 2.30pm Family Storytime @ Newbiggin Arts Centre, Gibson Street.
