Improvements to Library Services in Bedlington and Bedlington Station

Bedlington Library

Bedlington Library has been redecorated by NCC apprentices who volunteered during Apprenticeship Week, to kickstart a project to revamp the library. They have been supported by staff from Housing, the Library and Covid Officers.

The creation of a temporary seating area shown above is the start of a longer-term project which will see to the creation of a dedicated children’s area and reading nook, comfortable seating areas, a community worktable, and workstations. The next phase is the recarpeting that will require the library to remain closed from Thursday 24th March until it reopens on Saturday 2nd April. The new children's area is scheduled to be installed in May.

Bedlington Station Library

The library at Bedlington Station is relocating to the East Bedlington Community Centre and will open to the public at 1 pm on Friday 8th April.  There will be a selection of new stock for all ages, IT for public use and staff happy to help.

Our first event is in partnership with the Community Centre and SENRUG, the South East Northumberland Rail User Group. It is the opportunity to meet award winning transport writer, Christian Wolmar, author of a well known series of books on railway history, at the Community Centre on Thursday 31st March at 2pm for a talk and Q&A. Refreshments will be available from the licensed cafe, The Buffet Car.  Tickets can be booked online at Eventbrite.
