Many Deadly Returns: Crime Fiction Readings at Northumberland Libraries

Join us for an evening of crime at Haltwhistle, Bellingham and Hexham Libraries as The Border Readers proudly present live readings of four contrasting tales from ‘Many Deadly Returns’, the 21st anniversary anthology of crime stories by members of the Murder Squad. The selection features a brand new ‘Vera’ story from Ann Cleeves.

The Murder Squad is a northern based group of award-winning crime and mystery writers, who celebrated their twenty-first birthday with this criminally good collection of stories. Short, sharp and packed with twists, the 21 unputdownable tales showcase the associates' range and talent. Published by Severn House in 2021, ‘Many Deadly Returns’ features stories by Ann Cleeves, Martin Edwards, Kate Ellis, Margaret Murphy, Chris Simms, Cath Staincliffe, John Baker, Chaz Brenchley and Stuart Pawson.

The Border Readers is a group of northern based professional actors who give live literary narratives in intimate public settings - arts centres, galleries, hostelries, small halls and libraries. With Stephen Tomlin producing they toured ‘Haunted: Ghost Story Readings for Halloween’ in 2018 and 2019; recorded more stories for broadcast during lockdown through 2020 and returned to live touring in autumn 2021.
