For Black History Month 2021 we are hosting an online event with Northumberland Archives called “Tapping the archives for stories of Black presence”. 

 

We will be joined by Senior Archivist, Jo March, as she shares her research into diversity and difference in the archive. Many of the stories from the Northumberland Archives strongrooms link Northumberland to people and places across the world. By doing further research into these stories and looking more closely at diversity and difference, hidden histories can be revealed. In this talk you will learn more about the research process itself and how, through careful investigation, less obvious pieces of information can bring to light another narrative.
