Project Gigabit is the government’s flagship £5 billion programme to enable hard-to-reach communities to access the fastest available broadband speeds.

Through this scheme, we are working towards connecting the remaining 5% of premises, who aren’t already benefitting from superfast speeds to the latest ultrafast speeds by building fibre cables to homes and businesses.

Thanks to a £7.3 million investment under the Project Gigabit programme, more than 3,750 rural premises in North Northumberland are soon set to gain access to faster and more reliable broadband speeds.

For properties that aren’t included in Project Gigabit, the government is providing up to £210m worth of voucher funding as immediate help for people experiencing slow broadband speeds in rural areas.

The vouchers have recently increased in value to £4,500 for both business and residential premises.
