Information about the role of a personal assistant.
Personal assistants usually support people in their own home or to go out in the community. Different people need support with different parts of their life, at different times of the day, so you can choose a role that suits you and fits in with your other commitments. You’ll be employed directly by the person you support, or their chosen family member or friend, instead of by the council or an agency. The opportunity to focus directly on the needs of the person you support is often what attracts people to the role. You can choose to work for one employer or for a number of different people.
Personal assistants (PAs) work directly with the person who needs help, to support them with things that could include cooking, shopping, personal care and getting out and about. You will be involved in many aspects of your employer’s life and the role can be immensely varied depending on the person’s individual needs and priorities. Qualifications aren’t necessarily needed, and training will be provided when required. Please click here to find out more about finding a job as a personal assistant in Northumberland.
