The last 2012 garden waste collections from homes in Northumberland are due to take place during the weeks beginning November 12th and November 19th - depending on where you live.
Northumberland County Council provides a collection service for garden waste from homes in a number of areas across the county from spring to autumn each year. Homes that subscribe to the service receive a wheeled bin that can be filled with leaves, grass, hedge and tree cuttings, and other similar materials.
The waste is delivered to one of three on-farm composting facilities near Alnwick, Hexham and Ashington. It is turned into compost that can be used as a soil improver or purchased from Household Waste Recovery Centres across Northumberland.
Residents can also compost their garden waste at home in a home compost bin or transport it to their nearest Household Waste Recovery Centre.
