Wark Tyne Bridge, built in 1878 has since 1979 had a weight restriction for vehicles of 5 tons imposed upon it. The bridge has suffered considerable deterioration due to corrosion of many of the structural elements and in 2007 a further weight restriction had to be imposed of 3 tonnes.
