Drop-in to have your say on Core Strategy

Drop-in events about the Northumberland Core Strategy are taking place in Ponteland and Morpeth on dates during the next two weeks.
People who want to find out more about final major modifications to the document, and to have their say, can come along to Ponteland Memorial Hall on Wednesday December 7 or Morpeth Town Hall on Tuesday December 13.
Each event will run from 2pm to 7pm and will be an informal drop in where planning staff will be available to discuss the consultation documents and provide advice on how to respond to the consultation.
The main modifications to the plan at this stage are in relation to the proposal for a Garden Village at Dissington near Ponteland, a supplementary planning document for land at South East Ponteland, and changes to employment land allocations at Morpeth.
This is the seventh public consultation on the Core Strategy and on each occasion the council has taken comments and feedback into account and adjusted details in the documents, where possible, as a result.
The strategy provides the overarching planning policies to guide where future development takes place up to 2031. It will mean the provision of new schools and leisure, new homes and employment land, and secure key infrastructure investment.
This consultation will close on Friday 23 December.
The council will take into account responses during January 2017, with a submission document considered by the council in February, and forwarded to Government in March 2017. Examination by a Government inspector can then be expected during mid to late Summer 2017 and formal ‘adoption’ in December 2017.
Full details of the consultation are available on the council’s website at:
