Children enjoy hundreds of free activities with Active Northumberland

Active Northumberland has given away hundreds of free activity sessions this summer to help children and families enjoy an active school holiday.

In July, Active Northumberland launched a summer activities reward card giving children who booked in for swimming, Clip 'n Climb or soft play fun anytime in the summer hols, their 5th and 10th visit for free.

They simply had to collect their cards and get them stamped at of the nine participating sports centres when they took part in an activity.

The reward card ran during the summer holidays (24th July to 3rd September)
and over the course of the summer Active Northumberland saw an 11 per cent increase in attendance of these three activities compared to the same time last year.

Mark Warnes, Chief Executive of Active Northumberland said:

This is the first time we have run an activity rewards scheme, and it has been incredibly popular. We can see from the figures that many more people were active at our centres this summer than last year.

“We know it is a difficult time for families with the increase in the cost of living, and hard choices have to be made to make ends meet.

“The reward card is a little thank you to our customers, making it a little easier for their children to take part in regular physical activity and helping them to have a healthier and happier summer school holiday.”
.
Active Northumberland also offered flexible junior and student memberships over the summer.
