Northumberland County Council is asking for the thoughts of parents and carers on childcare provision in their area and whether or not it meets their needs.

Childcare plays a crucial role in supporting families and ensuring the wellbeing of children.

It enables parents to balance work and family responsibilities, provides a stimulating environment for early childhood development and offers opportunities for children to socialise with others.

From nurseries to childminders, before and after school clubs, holiday clubs, grandparents, relatives, and friends, we want to hear your experiences.

Your response will help us to understand how we can best meet the childcare needs of families across the county.

The financial support that is available to parents to help with the cost of childcare is increasing.

These include major changes to make it easier for parents with childcare responsibilities to move into or take on more paid work.

Starting from April 2024, existing childcare support will be expanded in phases. By, September 2025, working parents with children aged 9 months old to when they start school will be eligible for 30 hours childcare support.

Through this survey, we aim to gather valuable insights and experiences to support the future development of childcare services across the county.

Cllr Guy Renner-Thompson, Cabinet Member for Inspiring Young People, said: Good quality childcare provision plays an important role in supporting families and feedback from parents and carers is vital to help us shape the future of childcare provision in Northumberland.

Getting involved in this survey will directly impact the childcare services provided to you and your family. We encourage all parents and carers, whether you currently use childcare or plan to in the future, to share your thoughts and experiences."

By completing the survey you can be entered into a prize draw with a chance to win a £100 shopping voucher.

Deadline: October 17 2023
