Learn about household waste bin collections
On collection day
Make sure your bin is out, ready for collection by 7am.
Check your bin day
If your bin is not ready when we arrive, it will be emptied on the next scheduled collection day. This will be 2 weeks later.
If you struggle to put your bin out because you are elderly or disabled, you can
apply for assisted bin collections.
Disrupted collections
Collections may be disrupted by:
severe weather
roadworks
other issues out of our control
We update about any disruptions to collections on:
the Council Alerts page
Facebook
Twitter
If your collection is disrupted, we will return to collect as soon as possible.
What to do if your collection was missed
You can report a missed collection, when there was:
no advertised disruption
no bin tag or a leaflet if you put the wrong items in your recycling
Report a missed residential bin collection
We will then collect it as soon as possible.
Stolen, new, lost or damaged bins
You must pay for a replacement bin unless:
it has been damaged by the council’s vehicles or staff
we have agreed that your bin should be left permanently on the roadside
If you have moved into a new home without bins, you will need to buy general waste and recycling bins.
Charges for a new or replacement bin.
There is a different charge for
garden waste bins.

We aim to deliver your bin within 5 working days of payment.
Change your bin
If you want, you can request a smaller bin.
If you want to request a larger bin, call 0345 600 6400.
No space for a bin
If you do not have space for a wheeled bin, then you may be able to use bin sacks. You will need to
