Tickets available for VE Day Service at Hexham Abbey
17 Apr 2025
On 8 May 2025 the country will mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
The nation will unite to celebrate 80 years of peace since the end of World War II in Europe. It is not only a tribute to those who fought for freedom but also a powerful reminder of the resilience and unity that have defined our country ever since.
As part of a national series of events, Northumberland County Council, in association with SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity, is holding a Commemorative Service at Hexham Abbey on 8 May.
The Service will commence at 8pm and will conclude with the lighting of a Beacon in the Abbey grounds at 9.30pm by Dr Caroline Pryer, Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland.
A limited number of free tickets are available to the general public, on a first come, first served basis.
