Countdown is on for re-opening of Prudhoe swimming Pool

The countdown is now on for the re-opening of the swimming pool at Prudhoe Waterworld following a major £1.6 million refurbishment.

The finishing touches are being made to the centre and if all goes to plan the pool will re-open sometime during the week commencing 12th May – keep an eye out for the exact date closer to the time.

Improvements that have been made to the centre include a fantastic new wet changing area incorporating new showers, toilets, changing cubicles and lockers as well as a vanity area and lighting.
The exit from the water flume has also been improved and the main footpath into the centre has been widened to be more accessible. The pool was also drained so that some minor repair work could be carried out.
A deep clean is now almost complete, the pool is being re-filled, and a water sample has been taken to send away for testing.

Once confirmation is given that the water quality passes all the necessary tests the pool will be able to re-open to the public.

Prudhoe Waterworld is managed and operated by Places Leisure on behalf of Northumberland County Council.

Centre Manager Richard Anderson said:

“Following the completion of the extensive refurbishment final checks are now being made to ensure the swimming pool is in perfect condition to welcome back swimmers.

“The centre has had a great refresh and upgrade and is looking absolutely fantastic and I am sure it will be enjoyed by our customers old and new.”
