Call for donations of pre-loved school uniform in Northumberland

Community-based uniform services and groups around Northumberland are holding a week-long uniform collection drive in a bid to encourage families to recycle clothing while also helping others.
Good quality uniform, coats, shoes, PE kits and bags can be dropped off at various locations across Northumberland between Monday 5 August until Monday 12 August 2024.
Following the donation period, the pre-loved uniforms will be sorted by volunteers and made available via a network of local groups and organisations at either a significantly reduced cost, no cost or pay-as-you feel basis, with any money raised being ploughed back into their work to support their communities.
Councillor Guy Renner-Thompson, Cabinet member with responsibility for Inspiring Young People, said: “For many families, school uniforms are quickly outgrown or no longer needed when children transition to new schools. This donation program ensures that these high-quality items are given a new life, preventing them from ending up in landfills.
"This initiative thrives thanks to the dedication of community groups and volunteers who collect and redistribute pre-loved school uniforms across the county.
"We encourage everyone to use their local community uniform services. By doing so, you will help reduce clothing waste while benefiting yourself and others."
