Hexham Abby, an old church like building

Make a date with the Northumberland registrars

A wedding fair in Hexham Abbey this weekend will give the chance for couples planning their big day to meet their perfect match of local wedding suppliers.

The free event, organised by CH Events in partnership with Northumberland County Council’s Registration Service, takes place on Sunday, April 21, from 11am to 3pm and there is no ticket required.

More than 30 North-East-based wedding specialists have signed up to attend the fair, including wedding outfitters, florists, caterers, car-hire specialists, photographers, music and entertainment companies and cake makers.

Attendees can also take a short stroll across the Green to Hexham House, a Northumberland County Council registration office to see what this Grade II listed wedding venue has to offer.

Cllr Stewart portfolio holder for community services said: “I'm looking forward to attending the wedding fair this Sunday at Hexham Abbey, where couples will be able to discover some amazing local vendors for their big day.

"Our registrars will also be welcoming attendees to nearby Hexham House to see what this stunning wedding venue has to offer. Almost two thirds of couples who are getting married in Northumberland are coming from outside the county, and we can’t wait to welcome even more couples this year.”

Northumberland Registrars will be available to offer couples advice and guidance – talking them through the booking process, explaining the legalities and helping personalise and deliver the perfect ceremony.
