Residents invited to Bedlington Showcase events

Drop-in events highlighting the latest developments for Bedlington are taking place in the town over the coming weeks.

The county council, alongside partners including Advance Northumberland and Northumbria Police, will be on hand to speak to residents about plans for the town and surrounding areas.

The showcases are at West Bedlington Community Centre on Friday 21st October between 1pm - 4pm and Saturday 22nd October from 9:30am - 12:30pm.

They will then be repeated at East Bedlington Community Centre on Friday 4th November from 1:30pm - 4pm and Saturday 5th November between 9:30am - 12:30pm.

Among the displays being highlighted are the latest plans on the Northumberland Line rail project, local cycling and walking schemes and the Borderlands Place programme - an initiative to secure up to £3m capital funding for the town.

There’ll also be information on help available for local business, details of a pilot bicycle library scheme for the town and an update on town centre works.

Councillor Wojciech Ploszaj, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “There’s a lot of exciting developments coming up in Bedlington and I’d encourage as many people as possible to come along and see for themselves what’s in the pipeline.

“It’s a great opportunity to not only be updated on what is happening in and around the town but also to talk to the council and our partners and help shape the future of Bedlington.”
