Northumberland County Council celebrates customer service week

Northumberland County Council has been celebrating National Customer Service Week this week.

National Customer Service Week is a week-long celebration of customer service. The week encourages organisations to reflect on how they serve customers, recognise staff achievements and show commitment to service excellence.

Councillor Richard Wearmouth, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Corporate Services, said: “We are extremely proud of the staff here at the council who serve the residents in our communities, and I am pleased that there is a week that celebrates all things customer service.

“I also want to take this opportunity to personally thank our staff for the continued hard work and dedication they give to the council, our residents, our businesses and our visitors.”

Over the course of the week the council has shared all things customer service on its social media sites and celebrated the work internally.

The week focused on key themes:

The first part of the week focused on The Human Tech interface and how we interact with customers digitally, Service with Respect and the importance of self-care and The Professionalisation of Service: Skills and Capabilities – celebrating how customer service has grown as a profession.

The second half of the week looked at Effective Strategy and Leadership, a chance for all to appreciate the leaders heading up teams involved in customer service. It encouraged members of staff to engage in talks with different leaders and understand how they motivate, organise and respect their team, creating brilliant customer service.

Supporting Northumberland's communities and putting residents first is one of the council's top priorities. By working closely with Northumberland Communities Together, the council's customer services team can give residents and communities much-needed support and guidance during difficult times.

Northumberland Communities Together works with a wide network of community spaces, places and people across the county that are here to support you.
