The Alnwick Forum is set to return with a special drop-in session to give residents the chance to receive progress reports on all the latest exciting developments across the town. 

 
Taking place in The Northumberland Hall, Alnwick on Saturday, November 19 from 10am to 3pm, the aim of the event is to give an update on plans and progress on a number of key sites and projects in the town. Tea and coffee will also be served. 
 

Northumberland County Council ward member Councillor Gordon Castle said: 

“We know from earlier drop-in events how passionate local residents are about their home town. We want to keep the local community fully informed and over a dozen representatives from Alnwick based services, organisations and charities will be present. This is a fantastic opportunity to find out more about what is going on in Alnwick and what support is available, so I hope people will take a little time out of their day to pop in, have a look, have a say and have a cuppa. “  

Northumberland County Council will have on display the concept designs for the pedestrianisation of Narrowgate and design proposals for improvements to The Cobbles parking area in the centre of Alnwick. 

There will also be representatives present from the various services based in the newly completed Lindisfarne Community Campus. These include The Alnwick Food Bank and Northumberland Communities together, so residents who have real concerns about the cost of living or other matters will be able to speak to someone about arrangements for support and advice. 

A number of community groups and businesses will also be attending to share their news. Representatives from The Bailiffgate Museum will be present with information about the proposal to re-locate the museum into the Northumberland Hall which will be of interest to a lot of people and businesses in the town. The Alnwick Garden will also be present with updates on Lilidorei, the world’s largest play structure and the winter light trail. 

Other attendees include representatives from The Borderlands team, Aln Valley Railway, Alnwick Civic Society, Northumberland Estates, Alnwick & District Branch of the Royal British Legion, Alnwick Youth Hostel, Alnwick Area Friends of the Earth and Alnwick Story Fest. 

From the county council there will be representatives from the recycling and climate change team, from library services and Northumberland skills. Health trainers will be present offering blood pressure, weight, BMI checks.  

Northumberland County Councillor and ward member Councillor Martin Swinbank said: 

“Developing current schemes and future plans for our town is an on-going process which should involve every resident and business.  This is an excellent opportunity for everyone to view these emerging plans and be involved in shaping them.  Also, a review of the Alnwick and Denwick Neighbourhood Plan is starting soon, so it is an important time to get involved and have your say." 
 

The aim of the Alnwick Forum – a partnership between the county council and town council – is to oversee how the town develops over the coming years in line with the Alnwick Neighbourhood Plan and make best use of the county council’s key sites.
