Following the high winds from Storm Malik, partners from Northumberland County Council, Northumberland Fire Rescue Service, Northern Powergrid and Northumbria Police have been working together to assess the extent of the damage and the impact on local communities. 
 

Northern Powergrid is reporting that it has made good progress getting power restored. 
 

The team in Northumberland activated their Emergency Community Assistance Plan on the morning of Saturday 29 January and have been monitoring the situation all day.   
 

Teams of staff have worked hard to keep roads open by clearing trees and debris and have been assessing structural damage to buildings.   
 

Northumberland Fire & Rescue Service responded to a number of incidents throughout the day including a large waste fire in West Sleekburn which involved a total of nine fire appliances.
